‘Mehnaaz – The Moon’, a photo exhibition by Madhu Pandit
The exhibition is a collection by photographer Madhu Pandit wherein she has presented her romance with the moon over a period of one year capturing all its 28 phases at various locations in the City Beautiful Chandigarh.
It is the journey of a conceptual photographer who has captured canvases that leave everyone amazed. ‘Mehnaaz’ is her latest theme, where the Moon is her muse. Madhu’s love affair with the moon dates back to her childhood but picked up passion and pace in the last 12 months. Mehnaaz is an ode to her love – mystical, spiritual and poetic.
On display at the India International Centre(IIC) are 34 art works of this professional photographer that beckon the Delhi residents to come and experience her spiritual and metaphysical journey while shooting the Moon with the precision of her camera. Her endeavor is that every visitor should enjoy the works and decipher his or her relationship with the moon through them.
“Mehnaaz” has been exhibited at the Art gallery of the Chandigarh Museum (Nov 2015) and National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA); Mumbai (January2016) where it has received a lot of appreciation. Madhu’s earlier works have also been acknowledged across the spectrum and recognition has come her way for her three solo exhibitions held at Alliance Françoise, Chandigarh (November 2003); Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (April 2004) and National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA); Mumbai (December 2006) on “Flowers and Ice —Fragrance of Eternity”. She also bagged top honours in “Chandigarh in the monsoon” contest by the Chandigarh Administration in September 2007. Besides, two of her works were selected by Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi.
Passion leaves a trail and those with a creative streak follow it. In short, this has been the journey of Madhu Pandit in photography for the last decade and a half. Madhu is a professional photographer whose works range from industrial and advertising photo shoots to still and art. She also teaches amateur photographers and students. In her pursuit of excellence, Madhu herself has attended Photography Workshops at Manohar Desai National Institute of Photography, a Fashion Photography Workshop with Vikram Bawa, Fashion and Portfolio workshop with Tarun Khaiwal at Mumbai and Photography and Photo Journalism Workshop with Raghu Rai at Chandigarh.
